Concrete Batch Plant Operator (Challenge Exam)

The Concrete Batch Plant Operator Challenge Exam is intended for candidates who want to take the written examination required for the CTQP Concrete Batch Plant Operator qualification without attending a classroom training course.

• Concrete production personnel pursuing the CTQP qualification
• Quality Control Managers at concrete production facilities, unless they possess an alternative qualification permitted under Standard Specifications Section 105-8.7
• FDOT employees seeking the qualification for professional knowledge

The CTQM states that FDOT employees may obtain this qualification for professional knowledge, but it is not required for FDOT personnel.

Challenge Exam Overview

This registration is for the Concrete Batch Plant Operator written examination only. Encobridge does not provide a classroom course as part of the challenge exam.

The official Concrete Batch Plant Operator course was developed by FDOT as an independent self-study program. Candidates should prepare independently using the current FDOT Concrete Batch Plant Operator Study Guide and applicable reference materials before taking the examination.

The qualification addresses batch plant operations involving:

• Batching fresh concrete
• Proportioning concrete mix designs
• Determining the moisture content of aggregates
• Calculating the water-to-cementitious-materials ratio

Examination Format

The Concrete Batch Plant Operator written examination is:

• Electronically graded by the CTQP Administrator

Candidates should allow a minimum of approximately two weeks for examination results to be graded and posted.

Qualification Requirements

Requalification

The CTQM states that the requirements for requalification are the same as those for initial qualification. Applicants are responsible for maintaining their qualification and applying for requalification before it expires.

Anyone who allows the qualification to expire must reapply under the applicable CTQP requirements.
