What Is the Quality Control Manager Qualification?

The CTQP Quality Control Manager qualification, administered under Florida’s Construction Training and Qualification Program (CTQP), is required for anyone acting as Quality Control Manager on behalf of the Contractor on a project governed by the QC Manager Specification (Section 105). It confirms the ability to analyze and control product quality, coordinate production operations, determine quality pay factors, and understand statistically based quality control specifications — consistency, variability, data interpretation, and random sampling. FDOT Project Administrator representatives on Section 105 projects must also have passed the QC Manager exam.

Unlike most CTQP asphalt and concrete qualifications, the QC Manager qualification is indefinite — once qualified, there is no requalification requirement unless the qualification is suspended in accordance with the CTQM.

• Written examination — closed-book, 50 questions
• Passing grade: 70%
• Electronically graded by the CTQP Administrator
• Results posted in approximately two weeks

Requirements to Qualify

To become qualified, the applicant must:

• Pass the QC Manager exam (70%)
• Hold at least one Level 2 CTQP qualification — obtained before the exam or within one year following it

• Limerock Bearing Ratio Technician

• Act as Quality Control Manager on behalf of a Contractor on Section 105 projects

• Already hold (or will hold within one year) a qualifying Level 2 CTQP qualification and have the knowledge to pass the exam without the course
